M.I. Racing was formed in 1997 by Mick Ives, and has been one of the U.K.’s most successful Cycling racing Teams ever since. During that period, the Team has won over 1,000 races, all over the U.K. and mainland Europe.

Mick Ives

Mick Ives (born 10 August 1939) is an English former professional racing cyclist from Coventry. Ives has been the UCI World Masters Cycling Champion five times, British national cycling champion 81 times (with 5 championships won in 2007). He was at one time, the manager of the Great Britain cycling team, and the National Coach, and is the winner of over 1000 races.

Success for Coventry’s M.I.Race Team

The latest round in the Midland Cyclo Cross series , took place at Mallory Park Race Circuit on Sunday—on a fine but cold day, with more success for local team –“Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe—McCann—“ One of the last chances for the teams Veteran riders to test their form , prior to the British Championships at Peel Park Bradford , the 2nd weekend in the New Year—where they will make a very strong bid to win back the Team Championships in the 50 plus event. On Sunday –Kirby Bennett was the highest placed team rider in the 50+ race—Kirby lives only 4 miles from the circuit, so very much on home ground—-he won the 55+ race and finished 2nd in the over 50 race—Team mate Ian Wright was 2nd in the 55+ and 4th overall—Coventry member Peter Busby, finished 3rd  over 50 rider—following a long chase to get back to the leaders , after a chain derailment.—Former World Champion –Phil Roach , riding for the first time in 2 weeks , following a very bad cold, finished 5th best over 55 rider, . Team Jewson –not at their best–

Coventry based Cycling Team “Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe—McCann”—came away from the Final round of the British Cyclo Cross Championship series—with out the results they had wanted. The Event at Shrewsbury , was always going to be difficult, and recent weather made the riding very tricky in places—but that apart—Team Director Mick Ives said “they  will have to lift their game if they want to do well in the British Championships at Peel Park , Bradford the 2nd week in January” Of the Veteran riders –LVRC National Champion and Midland Champion –Kirby Bennett was the highest placed in the 50+ event—in 8th place—But only after a tough chase thro the field, after any earlier crash , when a rider fell in front of him , bringing him down very heavily, onto the cracked Ribs he received in a crash 2 weeks ago—the incident dropped him back to 30th place, , clearly one of the fastest riders in the race, and in considerable pain , he ploughed thro the very high class field , just beating his team mate Ian Field at the finish —Coventry member Peter Busby, was another rider suffering from Injuries –his received in a crash a week earlier at the World Championships in Belgium , where he hurt his Neck—on Sunday he was involved in a battle with team mates Tim Stowe from Wellesbourne –who is still struggling with a damaged Knee, but showed signs of getting back with the top riders , and Geoff Giddings, who spent much of the earlier part of the day looking after son Josh in his race Busby finished  18th , Stowe 19th... read more
