M.I. Racing was formed in 1997 by Mick Ives, and has been one of the U.K.’s most successful Cycling racing Teams ever since. During that period, the Team has won over 1,000 races, all over the U.K. and mainland Europe.

Mick Ives

Mick Ives (born 10 August 1939) is an English former professional racing cyclist from Coventry. Ives has been the UCI World Masters Cycling Champion five times, British national cycling champion 81 times (with 5 championships won in 2007). He was at one time, the manager of the Great Britain cycling team, and the National Coach, and is the winner of over 1000 races.

Cycling Team win at home and abroad

“Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe—McCann” cycling team , won races both in the U.K. and in Belgium over the Holiday weekend.—once again proving to be one of the leading Cycle Race Teams in the U.K. 14 yr old Ed Hopkins a member of the M.I.Youth Racing Academy, was part of a strong Youth team that was invited to take part in a special Circuit race in Belgium –the Team was managed by former Professional and 10 times British Champion Mike Twelves. Team member Rory Knowles look to be the teams number 1 contender for victory , having won 4 out of 5 of the special lap prizes , only to get involved in a crash in the closing stages of the race , and suffered a broken collar bone.—not to be out done , team mate Ed Hopkins jumped clear and soloed to victory , ,–an impressive display of riding by the Coventry based squad., which impressed the Belgium Organisers—further Invitations have already been made to the team for later in the season. Nearer home several members of the team contested the Coventry C.C. Open 10 ml Time Trial , held on the “ Pot Holed “ roads near Wolvey , Warwickshire. 44 yr old Dave Kiernan, who lives at Barton in the Beans , Nr Nuneaton, rode a brilliant race against his younger rivals to finish in 2nd fastest , with a time of 20 mins 50 secs , on what is considered a slow course. Success for Coventry’s M.I.Race Team

The latest round in the Midland Cyclo Cross series , took place at Mallory Park Race Circuit on Sunday—on a fine but cold day, with more success for local team –“Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe—McCann—“ One of the last chances for the teams Veteran riders to test their form , prior to the British Championships at Peel Park Bradford , the 2nd weekend in the New Year—where they will make a very strong bid to win back the Team Championships in the 50 plus event. On Sunday –Kirby Bennett was the highest placed team rider in the 50+ race—Kirby lives only 4 miles from the circuit, so very much on home ground—-he won the 55+ race and finished 2nd in the over 50 race—Team mate Ian Wright was 2nd in the 55+ and 4th overall—Coventry member Peter Busby, finished 3rd  over 50 rider—following a long chase to get back to the leaders , after a chain derailment.—Former World Champion –Phil Roach , riding for the first time in 2 weeks , following a very bad cold, finished 5th best over 55 rider, .
