Wotton Wawen based (Nr Stratford) Husband and Wife, Brian Tear and Martine Verweij, competed in 2 different Cycling events over the weekend.
Brian, competed in his first ever 50 mile time trial - Warrington R.C. 50 in terrible windy conditions, and with the course estimated at 1 ½ mls too long, he recorded the time of 2 hrs 6 mins 7 secs.
Whilst Martine finished 3rd in the Birmingham Triathlon over the Olympic distance - having set the fastest time in the Cycling section by 1 min 20 secs.

Wellesbourne rider, Tim Stowe, who helps run a family Garage business in Wellesbourne, (between Stratford and Warwick) and is also a part time Fire Man, Won the Midland Evening Mountain Bike series event at Mallory Park, for riders 50 and over last week, and followed it up this week with a 2nd place.
Tim has had several months out of competition, following a very heavy Mountain Bike and Cyclo Cross season last year, he is a former British Veteran Down Hill Mountain Bike National Champion, and World Championship rider and last winter won the LVRC National Cyclo Cross Championships and was part of Team Jewson’s B.C. National Cyclo Cross winning Team.
Coventry based Team Jewson M.I.Racing - Thule - CNP - Kinesis, riders were in outstanding form this week at events all over the UK.
New Lady Team member Michelle King, riding her first event for Team Jewson, finished a brilliant 5th in the British 10 ml Time Trial Championships, held at Teeside in the N.East in terrible windy conditions.
Michelle the reigning Rudy Project series National Champion, finished only 6 secs off the Bronze Medal, despite there being the strongest ever entry including 12 Professional riders. Michelle has to fit her training in around a full time job, where many of the riders she beat are either Professionals, riding in events all over the world, or are on the Great Britain National Squad, making it a fantastic start to her career with Team Jewson - M.I.Racing
Team Director - Mick Ives said "Michelle, has progressed so much in recent seasons, and I feel that with the Teams help , she will go from strength to strength, Michelle started her racing career with Coventry Cycling Club, so she is very much a local girl, her ride in the Championship against such opposition was awesome". 71 yr old Derrick Woodings, a former Professional rider and twice winner of the British 100 ml Time Trial Championships, defied his age, and was in cracking form on Sunday, when he broke clear at the end of the first of 3, 16 mile laps in the Percy Stallard National Road Race series race at Brailes, near Shipston on Stour in South Warwickshire. Never to be seen again by his rivals, this was Woodings 5th success this season, and by far his best. In his Pro days Woodings rode for 8 years in the same team as Team Jewson boss Mick Ives, including the Pro Tour of Luxemburg.
French Connection
New signing John French, who won the National 50 ml Time Trial Championships in 1981, leading his Coventry Olympic C.C. Team to victory (the only time 4 medals have been awarded to a National Championship winning team), as 3rd counters John Burnham and Malc. Moore tied with same time right down to last second. John Herring now riding for Leamington C and A.C was 2nd team counter in recent seasons. French has won the LVRC National Road Race Championships and National Circuit Championships. On Sunday riding his first event of the season, French finished 3rd in the 55yrs and over 65 ml Percy Stallard race. (more...)
Team Jewson lady Martine Verweij, made it 8 victories for the team this week , following her victory in the “Top Barn" Mt Bike race at Holt , Nr Worcester, --Martine, mixes her disciplines in a build up to her main Triathlon targets.
Husband Brian, finished 3rd in the Wyre Forest Circuit race at the new purpose built Circuit at Stourport on Severn on Friday Evening.
Rugby rider Malc Brookling –Team Jewson--, riding his first 25 ml Time Trial of the season,, following a broken foot earlier in the year, recorded the super fast time of 54 mins 29 secs in the VTTA East Anglia event Nr Newmarket—its only his 2nd race this year.—Brookling made a come back to racing last season, after many years out of the sport –and bodes well for the future.
Jewson rider Paul Wain storms to victory in his first race for 18 months at Darley Moor. Paul had escaped in a break of 3, with only 2 remaining on the last lap he powered through the final chicane to win.

In Worcestershire, Warwick’s John Stevenson finished 3rd on Stage 4 in the very tough 3 Day “Tour of the Abberleys” Stage Race, and 4th overall.
And much further south at Marlow, Bucks, Rugby's Malc. Brookling, finished his first event of the season , following a broken ankle , and recorded the very fast time of 21 mins 34 secs in the VTTA London 10 ml time trial , held in very tough windy conditions
Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Thule—CNP—Kinesis were clear winners of the Team Championships in the Classic Dianna Cooke Mem 10 ml., held at Bourton on Dunsmore., Nr Rugby and organised by Coventry Cycling Club.
The winning team was made up of Top Triathlete Stacey Penn—who finished an excellent 4th in the high class field of 45 riders from all over UK.—with a time of 24 mins 46 secs.
Fellow Triathlete Samantha Anderson, riding her First Ever Open Time Trial amazed with her performance recording a time of 25 mins 24 secs to claim 7th place and First in the Handicap section.—3rd member of the team was Wendy Kerby with a time of 27-19, the event held in very windy conditions was won by last years winner and current Rudy Project Champion—Michelle King with a brilliant time of 22-43 in such tough conditions.
M.I. Racing was formed in 1997 by Mick Ives, and has been one of the U.K.'s most successful Cycling racing Teams ever since. During that period, the Team has won over 1,000 races, all over the U.K. and mainland Europe.
The Team competes in all types of Cycle Racing; Road Racing, Track, Time Trials, Triathlons and Cyclo Cross. From January 1st to December 31st (unlike most teams, who only compete for about 6 months of the year).
The Teams youngest racing member is 16 years old, its oldest is 75 years old. We have 3 Triathletes who represented Great Britain in the last 2 seasons. We have a crack junior Squad of 4 riders. The top veteran road team in the UK and top veteran cross team in the UK.
