Victory for Mike Twelves

Hinckley based member of Team Jewson M.I.Racing Thule, Mike Twelves, in his first full racing season since 1986, finally got his first victory of the season in the Mallory Park circuit event last Thursday. Mike, who finished 6th in the Milk Race Tour of Britain back in the 80’s riding for Gt Britain national team, decieded to come out of retirement at end of last season, and was quickly snapped up my team boss Mick Ives who had raced with Mike years ago in Spain and knew the quality rider he was.  This season Mike  has been placed in almost every race he had ridden since March, but never made first place until Thursday evening,  his next main event will be round 4 of the Percy Stallard National Road Race series on the very tough and very hilly circuit between Bridgenorth and Cleebury Mortimer, along with team mates Chris Coyle who has just finished the Tour of Ireland International Race and Warwick’s John Stevenson, a formidable trio. More success for Team Jewson when Phil Blacker won his second Circuit race at the Stourport purpose built race circuit , in the space of 7 days,– then followed it up with a fine win in the “Back on Track “ Mountain bike race for Veterans over 40 at Holt Heath, Nr Worcester. On Sunday, Blacker who joined the team in September, won his first Cyclo Cross and then had a big crash breaking his shoulder, which put him out for whole of last Cyclo Cross season, now fully recovered, he will be a great asset to the team, as he is...
