Victory in Battlefield Duathlon

  Coventry’s only Elite Cycling Team produced another brilliant set of results across several events and disciplines. Lady Triathlete Ali Moult was in fantastic form in the Battlefield Duathlon, where she won the Ladies Race by a massive 10 minutes, and was only beaten by 2 of the male competitors.  Team mate Greg Ashley finished in 10th place. Greg then went on to a much better performance in the A5 Rangers Hilly Time Trial near Towcewster, where he finished in 2nd place with a time for the hilly 15 1/4 mile circuit in 41 mins 38 secs; team mate Russell Green finished 7th fastest with 44-08 and they combined to form the winning team (which they also won last year). Then on Sunday Greg rode the A5 Rangers 10 mile time trial which was held on a slow/hilly course near Towcester, here he finished 7th fastest and won the combined race championship over the weekend (15 1/4 mile hilly TT and 10 mile TT) – his 2nd victory of the weekend. The Teams Road Race riders were in action at the Fletch Waltone event near Lutterworth. Derrick Woodings won the 70 km race for riders 75 and over – his second win in 2 races.  Martin Hackley followed up his win last week with 2nd place in the 70 km Race for riders 65 + and team mate John Stevenson from Warwick also finished 2nd in the 85 km Race for riders 50+. Great Cycling Results for Riders Over The Weekend

Coventry’s only Elite Cycle Race Team were in the thick of the action over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon Nuneaton member Lindsay Nell continued her early season form with Victory in the Coalville Wheelers 2 Up Team Time Trial, riding with Team Mate Stephanie Peters. Jonathan Wears  finished 5th fastest team in the City Road Club event near Hull, East Yorkshire.  He then followed that up the following day in the 50 mile G.S.Metro Road Race, in County Durham.  The LVRC Road Race Season got under way on Sunday with the Baines Road Races near Towcester, Northhants.   Martin Hackley was back racing after a 12 month break and easily won the  40 mile race for riders 65 and over, to open his 2015 account. Podium places for Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe

The 2015 Time Trial season has now got under way , and already Team Jewson riders have scored Podium places. Lindsay Nell racing in only her 2nd season, finished 3rd fastest Lady in the Coalville Wheelers 10 mile Time Trial , and won the Ladies Veteran classification. She then followed this up with 3rd fastest Lady in the very tough Banbury Star Hilly 23 mile event and again won the Veteran Classification–a clear indication that winter training with Husband Matt and British Veteran Champion Mike Twelves is paying off. In the Banbury Star 23 mile hilly, which included the tough climb of Sunrising Hill, on the Banbury-Stratford road, Tim Hastie finished 7th in a time of 56 mins-48 secs, closely followed by Nuneaton team mate Matt Nell with 56-52 for 9th place. Team Launch 2015-M.I.Race Team‏

Yet another very successful weekend. For Coventry’s only Elite Cycle Race Team.–“Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe.”  The Team Launch for the 2015 Team took place on Saturday morning  in Coventry, at the head office of the teams main sponsor–“Jewson -“- A selection of the Team were present, mostly coming from the Midland area.. Coventry businessman Doug Squires  along with Team Boss Mick Ives, introduced the Team members to the Sponsors/Guests and Media. Ives introduced 5 new team members for 2015, including the very talented Ross Horn from Leamington Spa–Horn will race in Road Races with the aim of obtaining his 1st Cat Licence in the next few events, he will be greatly assisted in his training/advice and preparation by 2 of the teams Ex Professional riders –current World Masters Champion Mick Ives  ( Baginton ) ,and British Champion Mike  Twelves ( Hinckley )–Other new riders are Ian Hughes ( Hinckley )–Richard Allcock ( Worcestershire ) and Kyle Abrahams–currently training and racing in S.Africa ,and Ian Cooper training in Spain. Ives also announced the addition of 3 New Team Sponsors, ( 2 from the U.K. and 1 from Denmark ). The Team has already won 2 UCI World Masters Championships—4 British Championships and 11 events since Jan 1st this season. Ives also announced that the Team , now has a None Competitive section for riders wishing to participate in Challenge/Sportive/Charity rides , without Racing–the group will be called “Coventry Olympic Group Sportive” ( C.O.G.S.)
