Mike Twelves –“Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe,” was in terrific form once again ,proving without doubt that he is the No.1 over 50 Road Racer in the U.K. National Champion–Twelves who lives just outside Hinckley, won round 6 of the season long “ Percy Stallard” -Bio Racer -National Road Race series, for the 2nd year in a row–What makes it more outstanding is that , he has won every round in the series against the U.K’s very best–in events all over the U.K.—a terrific achievement. Mike rode for a Professional Spanish Team back in the 70’s and before that was a regular International –finishing 6th in the Tour of Britain Milk Race riding for Gt Britain team–after taking over 25 yrs out of the sport, -Mike started racing again 2 seasons ago, and teamed up with another Ex Professional Mick Ives in the M.I.Race Team.–8 Road Race victories last season , and 12 this season inc. a National Championship, –Mike also takes time out to organize events, –this year he has run the very successful Mallory Park Summer series Tuesday and Thursday Ev. racing , and also promoted the LVDC National Veterans Road Race Championships on behalf of Team Jewson-M.I.Racing–Polypipe.–few riders put that sort of commitment back into the sport. Team Mate John Stevenson from Warwick , has played a big Part in Mike’s success, and again on Sunday John attacked early in the 56 mile race, taking several riders clear, soon after Mike bridged the gap, exactly as planned and they were never seen by the main field again–in the sprint for the line, Stevenson , gave Mike a perfect lead...

Season starts with Victory

Coventry based Elite Cycling team “Team Jewson M.I.Racing Polypipe”started their 2014 Road Racing season with victory. Hinckley based team member and former British International and Professional (in Spain) Mike Twelves, showed excellent early form, when competing in the Nene Valley promotion at Towcester, Northamptonshire on Sunday riding in the 42 mile event which was for 40 45 and 50 cat riders, Twelves was part of a breakaway group the formed on the first of 7 laps, at the end of the 2nd lap, only Twelves and 2 younger riders were left, and they had a lead of 30 secs over the main field, which they maintained until 2 laps to go, when several riders bridged to gap, the group staying clear to the finish, Twelves, easily winning the 50+ race Team mate John Stevenson (Warwick) finished in the next group and was 3rd in the 50+ race. And team mates Richard Evans and Richard Shimmell, finished in the main pack In the Race for riders 55 yrs and over Former National Champion John French and 6 other riders powered clear on the first of 6 laps, never to be seen again, French always the strong rider in the group. With 2 laps to go French broke clear and only former Professional, and Olympic and World Championship rider, Bob Downs go with him, and they stayed clear to the finish, with Downs, using his very fast finish to gain victory and French taking 2 place meanwhile Team Mate Ray Robinso, had been chasing the whole race, on his own and came in with a few other riders who had caught him ½...

More British Championships

On Sunday our riders added 3 more British Championships to their tally to make it 21 British Individual Championships—1 World Championship and 3 European Championships plus a British Team Championship in 2013, surly the leading sports team in the Midlands if not the UK. On Sunday—Kenilworth’s Darren Atkins added to his already massive list of victories, by winning the LVRC National Cyclo Cross Championship for riders 40 yrs and over. The event , organized by Mick Ives on behalf of M.I.Racing  and the LVRC , was sponsored by Coventry based “JEWSON”.—and attracted riders from all over the U.K.–and held on a very tough course at Warwickshire College, Moreton Morrell , Nr Wellesbourne, –a course that included , steep, muddy technical descents,– tree rooted  slippery tracks—a flight of steps,– one very tough climb,– several running sections — flat grass land ,and a ¼ mile of road,–certainly one of the toughest Cyclo Cross events of the season. Atkins led from the off, and floated round the course with ease, such was his class, –retaining the Championship he won last year—He won the Midland Championship a few weeks ago, next week he will be out to win the National series Championship ,–he has a massive points lead going into the final event at Shrewsbury– both of which he won last year, and then the following week he brings his season to a close with the British Championships at Derby, where he will be out to better last years 2nd place., as well as leading a very strong team ., out to retain the Championship they won last year. 3rd rider to finish the race ,...

Michael Riley Records First Ever Cyclo Cross Victory

Coventry’s Michael Riley recorded his first ever Cyclo Cross victory when he won the Under 23yrs Cat at the “Beeline—Cyclo Cross at Botley nr Oxford on Sunday” The Team Jewson-Polypipe youngster ,who has slowly been improving this season , was really delighted with his victory, a just reward for all the hard training he has been doing in the evenings recently—Michael who is at full time College, trains with his uncle  Peter Busby–also a member of the team and currently leader in the Midlands over 50 Championship series Kenilworth’s Darren Atkins, The UK’s No 1 Veteran Cyclo Cross rider this season , also competed at the same meeting , but chose to ride in the Senior Race, rather than with the Veterans , and use it as training , for Rd 3 of the National Trophy series at Durham next weekend—which he is leading—and finished an excellent 3rd. British Cycling Championship Wins

Just 7 days after winning their first individual British Championship of 2013—“Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Thule—Polypipe,” were at it again—this time winning not 1 , but 2 British Championships over the weekend. Once again it was the Lady members of the Team who came away with Championship honours. 52 yr old Louise Day—better know for her Cyclo- Cross Performances, which include a UCI World Championship Medal and several British Championships—but on Sunday she won the 50 + National Ladies 25 mil Time Trial Championships , nr Boston , Lincs.—on a very cold and windy morning.—following several weeks of excellent performances inc. wins over 10 and 25 miles. Photo of Louise Day , receiving her Championship awards at the British 25 ml Championships on Sunday=–attached North of the border, in Scotland, 45 yr old Anne Murray, continued her run of excellent form , when she won the British Endurance, Marathon Mountain Bike Championships.—one of her main targets for the season—and then followed it up the next morning by winning round 4 of the Scottish Mt Bike National series. Anne is a multi British Champion, but it looked like her career was over following back problems towards the end of last season, –but she has now fought back to full fitness, and will be aiming for several more National titles during 2013—Anne’s Championship victory , now brings Team Jewson’s tally of National Championships for 2013 to 3 Individual, and 1 team—Team Boss Mick Ives , promised 3 to 6 National Championships in 2013, when speaking at the Team Dinner and Awards Ev , last November.
