Busby in Brilliant Form

Busby in Brilliant Form

Coventry’s Peter Busby  riding for “Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe” was in fantastic form over the weekend. On Saturday 53 year old Busby won the 50+ race at Darley Moor near Ashbourne Derbyshire.  The event was held in terrible muddy conditions (at times over 1 foot deep) due to the heavy rain in recent days and made worse by continued rain throughout the event.  In fact several sections of the course had to be completed on foot because of the deep mud. Shortly after this event Busby was back in action in the latest round of the Midland Cyclo Cross series at Evesham, where once again the course was muddy and required several  long sections to be completed on foot.  Pete lead the 50 + race from the start but a change of bikes put him in 2nd position from which he never able to recover.  Considering his efforts from a few hours earlier in Derbyshire  it was a brilliant performance. Barrie Mitchell from Marton finished 2nd in the 65 + race at Darley Moor and Mick Ives finished 2nd 70+, while Lady Veteran team member Lindsey Nell finished 3 Veteran Lady At the Evesham event Steve Knight won the 45 + race despite breaking a Rear Mechanism and having to run 1 /4 a lap before he could get to his spare machine.  Lady Veteran member Martine Verweij was in brilliant form and not only won the Lady Veterans race but she beat all the other Ladies as well.  Tim Stowe won the 55+ Race and Keir Lewis finished 8th in the Junior Race.
