M.I. Racing was formed in 1997 by Mick Ives, and has been one of the U.K.’s most successful Cycling racing Teams ever since. During that period, the Team has won over 1,000 races, all over the U.K. and mainland Europe.

Mick Ives

Mick Ives (born 10 August 1939) is an English former professional racing cyclist from Coventry. Ives has been the UCI World Masters Cycling Champion five times, British national cycling champion 81 times (with 5 championships won in 2007). He was at one time, the manager of the Great Britain cycling team, and the National Coach, and is the winner of over 1000 races.

Team Jewson –not at their best–

Coventry based Cycling Team “Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe—McCann”—came away from the Final round of the British Cyclo Cross Championship series—with out the results they had wanted. The Event at Shrewsbury , was always going to be difficult, and recent weather made the riding very tricky in places—but that apart—Team Director Mick Ives said “they  will have to lift their game if they want to do well in the British Championships at Peel Park , Bradford the 2nd week in January” Of the Veteran riders –LVRC National Champion and Midland Champion –Kirby Bennett was the highest placed in the 50+ event—in 8th place—But only after a tough chase thro the field, after any earlier crash , when a rider fell in front of him , bringing him down very heavily, onto the cracked Ribs he received in a crash 2 weeks ago—the incident dropped him back to 30th place, , clearly one of the fastest riders in the race, and in considerable pain , he ploughed thro the very high class field , just beating his team mate Ian Field at the finish —Coventry member Peter Busby, was another rider suffering from Injuries –his received in a crash a week earlier at the World Championships in Belgium , where he hurt his Neck—on Sunday he was involved in a battle with team mates Tim Stowe from Wellesbourne –who is still struggling with a damaged Knee, but showed signs of getting back with the top riders , and Geoff Giddings, who spent much of the earlier part of the day looking after son Josh in his race Busby finished  18th , Stowe 19th... read more

Lindsey new Cyclocross star.–Cycling report.

Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe–McCann, have found a new Cyclo Cross star–42 yr. old Lindsey Nell , who only started racing at the end of last season, then followed it up with a full season of Mt Bike Racing –during which she achieved several wins, is now into her 2nd Cyclo Cross season , and now a regular on the winners Podium. On Saturday , competing in the Central League Cyclo Cross at Kettering, Northants, she finished 3rd in the Ladies race , and 2nd best Veteran, , , storming thro the field despite the very slippery conditions , following overnight frost. Then a few hours later, she repeated the result , finishing 3rd fastest Lady and 2nd best Veteran , in Rd 10 of the Midland Cyclo Cross league , at the event at Allesley stadium, Wolverhampton. The next big target will be the Midland Championships , in 2 weeks time, and the LVRC National Championships at Warwick on Wed 28th December.–which will be organised for the 6th year by Team M.I.Racing. Coventry’s Peter Busby , continued his excellent form to place 5th in the Veteran 50+ race at Kettering , and followed it up on Sunday morning with 4th place at the Wolverhampton event. Roach wins the LVRC Championships

There were 4 Victories for Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe in Regional Cyclo Cross Championships. The Coventry based Cycling Team dominated Veteran Championships in both the Welsh and The Midland Cyclo Cross Championships on Sunday. World Masters Champion Phil Roach retained his Welsh Championship in deep mud on a new course at Colyn Bay.  His Son Stephen made it a family celebration when he won the Senior Championship as well.   Stephen is a Professional rider, riding for Raleigh Cycles. Nearer to home, the Midland Championships  at Newport Shropshire was always going to be  tough to win because the area for the Championships includes all of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.  Once again Team M.I.Racing produced the goods.  Martine Verweig  won the Ladies Veteran Championship- her first Area Championship win, which will give her confidence for the forthcoming National Championships in 1 months time at Shrewsbury.  And Stephanie Peters riding for the first time since breaking her Shoulder in September finished in 5th place.  She is still undergoing treatment for her injury.  Carl Sturgeon riding his first season for the Team , won the 40-44 Championship, with Mark James -3rd.  Steve Knight finished in 3rd place in the 45-49 Championship.  Coventry’s Peter Busby was 5th in the 50-54 Championships after losing time with a bike change, and team mate Geoff Giddings finished 3 secs behind in 6th place.
