There were 4 Victories for Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe in Regional Cyclo Cross Championships. The Coventry based Cycling Team dominated Veteran Championships in both the Welsh and The Midland Cyclo Cross Championships on Sunday. World Masters Champion Phil Roach retained his Welsh Championship in deep mud on a new course at Colyn Bay.  His Son Stephen made it a family celebration when he won the Senior Championship as well.   Stephen is a Professional rider, riding for Raleigh Cycles. Nearer to home, the Midland Championships  at Newport Shropshire was always going to be  tough to win because the area for the Championships includes all of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.  Once again Team M.I.Racing produced the goods.  Martine Verweig  won the Ladies Veteran Championship- her first Area Championship win, which will give her confidence for the forthcoming National Championships in 1 months time at Shrewsbury.  And Stephanie Peters riding for the first time since breaking her Shoulder in September finished in 5th place.  She is still undergoing treatment for her injury.  Carl Sturgeon riding his first season for the Team , won the 40-44 Championship, with Mark James -3rd.  Steve Knight finished in 3rd place in the 45-49 Championship.  Coventry’s Peter Busby was 5th in the 50-54 Championships after losing time with a bike change, and team mate Geoff Giddings finished 3 secs behind in 6th place. Busby in Brilliant Form

Coventry’s Peter Busby  riding for “Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe” was in fantastic form over the weekend. Shortly after this event Busby was back in action in the latest round of the Midland Cyclo Cross series at Evesham, where once again the course was muddy and required several  long sections to be completed on foot.  Pete lead the 50 + race from the start but a change of bikes put him in 2nd position from which he never able to recover.  Considering his efforts from a few hours earlier in Derbyshire  it was a brilliant performance. Barrie Mitchell from Marton finished 2nd in the 65 + race at Darley Moor and Mick Ives finished 2nd 70+, while Lady Veteran team member Lindsey Nell finished 3 Veteran Lady At the Evesham event Steve Knight won the 45 + race despite breaking a Rear Mechanism and having to run 1 /4 a lap before he could get to his spare machine.  Lady Veteran member Martine Verweij was in brilliant form and not only won the Lady Veterans race but she beat all the other Ladies as well.  Tim Stowe won the 55+ Race and Keir Lewis finished 8th in the Junior Race. Mark James finished 2nd overall in the... read more
